Gallstones

From what I’ve read, they remove the whole gallbladder and not just the stone. Have you had this procedure done? Seems routine I guess.

Yes. They took out my gallbladder.

The way the surgeon explained it was if you're having gallstones and having symptoms from them, then you want to take the gallbladder out on your own terms before IT decides it needs to go (emergency surgery for it is worse and has worse recovery outcomes).

I will occasionally have bile reflux flare ups. I'm able to control that with psyllium husk or just increased fiber in general.

I occasionally will have issue with higher fat foods. If I'm eating something higher in fat I try to make sure I eat plenty of fiber with it to try to offset it as much as I can (fiber absorbs the excessive bile).

All that said, I had a gallbladder attack that moved my surgery up two weeks and I will gladly go a little lower in fat and increase fiber to not ever have one of those again. I thought I was having a heart attack.
