LSU is pursuing Ole Miss' Lane Kiffin, and new details reveal the seriousness of the effort
BY WILSON ALEXANDER | Staff writer 10 mins ago
Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin remains a top target and is the current focus of LSU’s coaching search, multiple sources told The Advocate.
LSU officials arranged for a plane to pick up several of Kiffin’s family members Monday in Oxford, Mississippi, sources said, and they flew to Baton Rouge to tour the city.
Kiffin emerged early on as a primary target as LSU looks for Brian Kelly’s replacement. Kelly was fired in the midst of his fourth season with a 34-14 overall record.
Kiffin is also a top target at Florida, according to multiple reports, and Ole Miss has been trying to keep him in Oxford by offering a contract extension.
Ole Miss has an open date this week before playing Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl. At 10-1 overall, the Rebels will likely make the College Football Playoff.
Kiffin has a 54-19 overall record in six seasons at Ole Miss. He guided the Rebels to their first 11-win season in 2023 and the first two 10-win regular seasons in school history.
