Refractory panel mortar- anyone used?

My wife and I bought a house last year with a wood burning fire place, but one of the refractory panels has a substantial crack in it.
The fireplace/panel is discontinued, but I can buy one that's pretty similar in size for ~$200. Before going that route I was curious if anyone has had luck with the high heat masonry mortar and repairing something like this. TIA

I do refractory in oil refineries. It'll probably just crack again. How bad is the crack? Separated more than 1/8"?

I had some cracking of the fire bricks in the back of my fireplace and used something I got from Lowes thst came in paste form in a tube to be applied with a caulking gun. Clean it well and it will hold up pretty well.

That’s what I’m looking at, and yea it’s a bad crack. Might fall apart when I pull the panel
