Who is the last "big name" hire to leave one school and have success at the championship level at the new school?
I don't count Saban because he technically didn't move from one school to another.
Point being I feel like it may be worth rolling the dice on an assistant with lots of promise, also wouldn't carry that hefty price tag.

Meyer maybe though he took a two year break.

Nobody leaves a place where they have won championships unless they are retired, fired, or going to the pros. Mulkey is one of the few exceptions to this in college sports. Saban and Spurrier went to the pros, and then came back to have success in college.

Yeah I agree. I am mostly talking about the BK's of the world, Jimbo, if Lane kiffin was to move, etc.

I forgot about Jimbo. He was a weird one. 5-6 last year at FSU. Left the cupboards bare.
