LSU is not obligated to pay it all at one time.If Kelly agrees LSU can purchase an annuity that would pay him over whatever period is agreed to by the parties. This would allow him to coach elsewhere without it reducing his payment and remove LSU from the payment equation. It saves LSU money in the long run .

Regardless, it doesn’t have to be paid in full right now. It’s through 2031. Which would make it like 8mill a year if he didn’t leave money on the table
