I am currently looking at storm doors for security as well as the ability to enjoy the few nice days we have. I currently have door with small window panes that make it easy to gain entry. For this reason I do not see the point in getting typical screen doors that do not provide any security. Has anyone installed something that is economical yet aesthetically pleasing? I also looked up installation costs (I'm not handy at all) and Lowes was the only one that had a price guide:

Storm/Security Doors

North: $599 – $805
South: $569 – $825
West: $599 – $805

Per door that seems excessive or am I missing something. I figured a couple hours of labor from a contractor at most would be required. Why the price difference due to direction? Is there extra hardware to account for storm approach?

I bought a door from Lowes mid-summer and installed it myself. I had help and it still took us a full day. I would say thst a couple of guys that were experienced could do it in a couple of hours, depending on how square your door frame is.

I also bought one at Lowes this past winter and my wife and I installed in 3 hours. No bragging just facts.

Larson brand doors are super nice. But at several price points. From cheap aluminum to wood clad. Plenty of variations of colors and prices.

My gf isn't about to help with this. The handy friends I have are all mostly contractors so I feel the need to try and support them.
