Good topic. I bought a house in the area just over a year ago. I wasn't thrilled about the prospects of a nearby Walmart, and am glad to hear the store has been put on hold.
I do think there is positive development going in the area. Burbank is changing. The development on the corner of Lee and Burbank will help. Target, Lowe's and smaller retailers to my understanding.
Gardere area is a concern, because of the crime, but over time I think that area will be improved. If so, the Springlake area should be desirable, because as someone mentioned, the location is ideal. 5 minutes from Campus, 7 minutes from Downtown, 5 minutes to Perkins Rowe and the Mall.
