Dashawn Spears- Borderline 5-star year 2 player who just won SEC Defensive Player of the week and had a dominant showing vs Florida, only played 9 snaps because Cooley and Haulcy are that solid

Ashton Stamps- 2-year starter who was top 3 in the SEC in passes defended last year, can't even sniff the field because Delane, Woodland, and Pickett are too good

Jackeem Jackson also would probably see a lot of playing time at a lot of other places. The depth of the backend is absurd. Feels great to have an abundance of dudes in the backend again. This is what an LSU secondary is supposed to look like

Yep we are spoiled again. Then I try to watch the Saints on Sunday, and their secondary is fricking horrific. Such a contrast to LSU.

BTW, nobody calls the secondary or defensive backfield “backend”. That’s weird.

And unfortunately , most of
Them that aren’t getting playing time will be gone and transfer out after this season because of lack of playing time. NIL ruined the sport from a ‘building a program’ perspective .

Not so sure about that. Kelly does pretty well in keeping guys out of the portal in addition to the ones he adds. I really thought we might have lost a WR or 2 (think Zavion or Hilton) when bringing in guys like Barion and Nic Anderson, but they stuck. Toviano could’ve left but didn’t.

I feel good about how the coaches have retained players in this era.

Was actually thinking this could be the best DB group LSU has ever had. And that's saying some big shite.
