LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - The Calcasieu Parish School Board has sent out the following message regarding a precautionary lockdown at Barbe High School: “This message is for the parents and guardians of students at Barbe High School. The school is currently under a precautionary lockdown due to an anonymous tip being called into the school.

All students, faculty, and staff are safe, and we ask that parents do not report to campus at this time. This is being fully investigated by law enforcement and school personnel.

We want to reiterate that all students, faculty, and staff are safe. We will provide an update to families as soon as possible.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is currently doing a full sweep of the campus after receiving a tip that there was a student armed with a weapon on campus.
