One of my favorite Tiger B-Ballers of all time.

ahhh, Sweet "V" !!! Looks like he went with the spongebob bandaid now since you kind find the snoopy's anywhere anymore lol.
I was about 13 when I first 'met' Vernel. He was at Delmont Village on Plank Rd with the old radio station Z98. There was a tent set up in front of Piggly Wiggly and Vern was out there signing autographs and selling T-Shirts. I still have the shirt to this day. I saw him today at the Alumni game. He looked like one of the few former players that has managed to stay in shape over the years. Looks like he could probly still play for a living somewhere.
I'll never forget a dunk he had on an ole miss player back in the day. He jumped up so high it looked like he was at eye level with the rim and was 'layed out' horizontally in the air almost like superman flying. He smashed that dunk thru and completely posterized that poor guy from ole miss. Vernel was one of my heros as a young tiger. I was happy he made it out today

Glad to see he is remembered. I've known him stnce 4th grade. Class act all the way. My uncle was his high school coach and was coaching at Lsu summer camps as long as I can remember. Vernel went to Lsu because of that connection. He was msu otherwise because Richard Williams had coached at our high school in Natchez. Great tiger!!

I'm glad that you all liked the Band-Aid I'm the girl who is responsible for Vernel and the band-aids. He was wearing Mickey Mouse just like in the old days I had to make sure he kept the fans happy:)
