Don't buy it unless you want to read 300 pages of John Ed Bradley being a crybaby and a semi-douche.

It was okay for the first quarter of the book..but the rest of it was just him being a crybaby with a shitty attitude. Just my opinion, though.

I read half of it on a trip and forgot to read the rest--solid read from what I remember! I always go hardback, just seems to stay in better condition--plus it seems a little more classy!

Glad to help. To be sure this is a book I have seen where you either really love it or really dislike it.

Always get the hardcover. But if you only read magazines, message boards, and have never had anyone accuse you of being a deep thinker, don't buy it. Like most on here, you won't like it.

anybody with a Pulp Fiction reference in their tag is OK by me... good one, dude... as far as the book goes, haven't read it yet, but I will if I can get my hands on it, read his stuff before and liked all of it...

I'm a pretty deep thinker and read a ton of books...but I just go sick of the whining and crying and all of that.

I would recommend the book to any Tiger fan, but BigBoy is right, Bradley is one of the least likable protagonists I've ever seen. The dude really brought so much on himself.
It would be different if this was an experience that a lot of former players went through, but I really don't think it is. Its pretty much self loathing and self pity that is on a level all its own.
Doesn't mean it isn't worth reading, but sure does make it hard to give a shite about him.
Some good insight into his playing days though, particularly the USC game.
Very much a product of a writer who came of age in the 70's. Dirty, gritty, and pessimistic.

I was there in late 70's, remember the games and events very well that he referenced so I thorougly enjoyed the book. It did drag on a bit with his personel problems but I recommend the book to any LSU fan.

...one year in an sophomore english lit class, we had a substitute for a week, so she brought in the film and we watched it for a week, uncut, and did not EVEN have to write a paper for it... I had already seen it, but when I came in Monday and saw what she had brought in, I came to class all week just to watch it again... think I willl have to download it and get it and KEEP it this time... then have to find the blu-ray version...
