DIY car window tinting

Since we're keeping Mrs. BTB's car a bit longer (this economy sucks for buying cars) I figured I can take a crack at doing window tint on it since the car does not have anything but factory "tint." I say this as it looks like just some type of film with zero tint to it whatsoever. With the new tint laws coming August, I called a few places and they're all charging at least $350-$460 between various grades of tint. This is the first time I'm hearing about "nano ceramic" which is supposedly way better than traditional ceramic tint.
If I'm going to do this, is Amazon a good place to buy tint? Is there truly a difference between nano ceramic and other qualities of ceramic? I've got still hands for jobs like this, so I'm not concerned about cutting and forming the film before placing it, however, I will take any advice regarding prep and installation.

i bought some through the tint effect.
Cleaned the window multiple times. Wet the tint and stick it to the outside of the glass to hold it in place. Roll down the window and start at the top no curved corner, working back across the top to the curve part of the window and then work down. Best to watch a few videos online and pick up peoples tips and tricks that they use. Keep it from bending, once it creases your screwed.

Where are you located - in the Baton Rouge area H2O Auto Spa on Jefferson Hwy did mine and several others. Great job and very competitive pricing.

Good luck. Window tinting is one of those things where you don’t appreciate how difficult it is until you try it yourself.
With the money and time you’ll spend to DIY, you could just spend the money and get a professional job done that will last, won’t bubble, and be warrantied.
Edit: I paid $380 for tint in April 2023 on my 2 row SUV. 20% ceramic on the front, clear ceramic on the rear, and clear ceramic on the back glass. No regrets.
