I know they've gotten a bunch of rain.

How is it? Didn't plan on coming until July 4 week, may have ability to make a trip this weekend.

Not seeing much on the Calc/Big Lake group on fb.

Usually about now i would be poking around channel edges Prien to Turners and or chasing birds if I can find them. Which probably doesn't work because man i am terrible at fishing big lake last few years besides thanksgiving/Christmas time.

You mean the shrimp and oysters spam page?

There’s birds picking on the south end of the lake and west cove but a lot of small fish. That’s all I got.

Haha, thanks for the tips. May hold off then.

And yes. The spam on that page has gotten ridiculous. Used to love following it.

The only luck I ever have is bad. So I may stay home for now.

Fished Sabine this morning. Very fresh. Caught one keeper red and one tiny trout. I’d fish the south side for sure

Heading down tomorrow. Buddy that was supposed to haul my aluminum boat bailed. Kids would mutiny if I pulled that down and left the ski boat at home for July 4th week??

We do have a 14' flat with a 20 tiller at the camp. Depending on weather we will try and get out a few times. But can't cover nearly as much water as in the 18'

May also try the surf down at holly beach. Haven't seen any reports out of there.

SSE wind will have beach muddy. Bite ends around 9:30 for errythang. Don’t swim in the lake if you don’t have chain male suit, sharks killed my bite today. Plastic or mullet is the answer and stay off the channel since it’s ripping in at 5mph.

We fished holly beach a month ago. Great if you love catching gaff tops and pulling seaweed tangles out of your line.

Thanks for the tips. Yeah I definitely don't go in the water in big lake.

Thanks for the tips. Holly may be a bust as well. Guess we'll see. With the little boat and light winds id probably be comfortable in prien, hackberry, not sure about west cove.

I don't ever fish live bait. Usually throw DSL, kids will throw gulp under a popper.

If you see a report on the beaches you are a day late

It’s very hit or miss but when it hits it hits

Some absolute hits and many more chocolate milk misses.

Haha. Yeah I know. Is what it is now that I live 4 hours away. When we lived in Carlyss it was way easier. Couple days of north wind and no rain- game on.

I think we are going to take the little boat out tomorrow morning. Probably hit Prien and hope for birds.

It’s been dead up north, may be some picking in turners first thing.
Tide is falling at Kelso @4am, launch at spicers and fish short cut with skrimps under a cork.

What's the short cut? Where it opens up towards the channel? Or back towards salt ditch? Not familiar with it.
