For rear mount. Just something to go around our two-acre pond and do maintenance and such.

Have always used the transom mount minn kotas from academy for pond boats and never had any issues. A 30lb should be fine for that size boat unless you’re looking to throw a wake. Most I’ve ever had to do is replace the prongs on the end after a few years. I would keep it simple.

I have transom mount minn kota endura 45lb digital. The digital is worth it. You can fine tune the speed rather than click off a speed of 1,2,3,etc. 45lb is plenty but wouldn't be scared of 55lb and would maybe even go for that one if price isn't a worry. Got mine at academy for about 280 or so.

Endura C2 30# used to be $99 at BPS or Walmart, with inflation they are up to $150.
Pair it with a small LifePo lithium battery, 20 AH should do you just fine and only weighs a couple pounds.
This is my setup on a 12' jonboat on 4.5 acres.
Edit to add-
When I went to this setup, I bought two of the 20 amp hour Lifepo's because I was afraid 1 wouldn't be enough, but I have yet to have to switch over to the backup battery. 1 has ran me just fine. Granted, in my pond, I know where the fish are so after two hours I've caught what I wanted, or if I haven't they aren't biting that day so I just go home. I'm not really out there more than two hours.
