Does anyone have experience staying on this island that can share thoughts on best hotel/resort? Thank you.

We went for our honeymoon a few years ago . We spent the first half of the trip at Bougainvillea Barbados. It was a cool spot, didn't feel like we were tethered there and it was easy to go explore the island. Staff was courteous and helpful. Onsite restaurant had good food and drinks.
We spent the 2nd half at Sandals. It was exactly what you'd imagine. Overloaded with tourists (like us) weak, sugary drinks...cheap food dressed up just enough to pass for resort food. People at sandals were mind blown that we would leave the resort willingly to go explore. I will say that I wanted to spend every waking second at sandals eating or drinking to feel like I got my money's worth, vs just using Bougainvillea as a pool/bedroom/ back up dinner spot.
I'd venture to say neither of those are the best hotel/resort on the island but I would reccomend Bougainvillea as a great jumping off point.
