well for starters you need to exercise
have snacks or something before during and after exercise.
have your blood sugar levels checked every 20-30 minutes while exercising.

consult a dietitian to see if following a diet that is more glycemic base is suitable for you. glycemic index indicates how fast a food can raise your blood sugar levels.

foods such as white breads/pasta, carrots are high glycemic

low glycemic are things such as green beans, peas, apples, berries.

there is a whole book on the glycemic index.

im no RD so i cant give you an exact diet but you should be referred to one.

I have a tip that you may find helpful, that is when trying to figure out low cholesterol v low fat v low carb or good carb and bad carb etc., go with "LITE"!

allrecipes.com has a healthy food page where you can look at low glycemic index recipes.

Get to know your carbs real well!!!!

Be sure to get enough protein in your day with snacks like peanut butter, eggs, tuna fish, etc.

Serving size is critical in measuring your nutritional units of fats/carbs/proteins etc.

Remember that carbs are not bad for you, it's just that a diabetic person's body treats carbs differently.

As previously mentioned, a Diabetes Educator and/or Nutritionist will be a big help.

....will be thinking about some recipes to post for you....
