Lake Maggiore vs Lake Como

My wife and I and another couple have booked the Rhine River cruise on Viking this summer and selected a three-day pre-cruise extension at Lake Como. I just received an email from Viking saying they were not satisfied with the arrangements at Lake Como and had switched our pre-cruise extension to Lake Maggiore. All of us had been looking forward to the Lake Como extension.
I've Googled (and Binged) both lakes. Maggiore does not appear to be nearly as good as Como. Does any of you baws have experience with both of these destinations?

I have been to the Italian Lake Region twice and have been to both Lake Como and Lake Maggiore.
We went to Stressa on Lake Maggiore. It is a swanky resort town. We took a boat to Isola Bella, a small island off the coast, to tour the palace that was the home of St. Charles Borromeo. It is a beautiful place right on the lake. You can climb up the pyramid shaped terraced gardens with peacocks strutting around.
I am not saying that Lake Maggiore is nicer than Lake Como, but we enjoyed our visit there.
By the way, we are also counting down the days until our Viking Rhine River cruise. We are taking the Grand European in April.
