Any advice. Home we are looking at is zoned for Bailey Station Elementary… anyone on the board with experience with the school or area?

I'm really out of date about hometown Memphis, but it seems that far out east in Collierville things are still good and should remain so. I grew up in White Station HS area. That's still a lovely residential area, but private schooling is a must there.

I’m living in Germantown right now and have to go out to Collierville every once in a while. It seems like a solid little area. Far enough away from Memphis to escape most of the riff raff and has a more country vibe. Some really nice neighborhoods. Close enough to Germantown/East Memphis/Downtown. Think it would be a solid place to live. Unsure about the schools.

Lived there for 8 years. Good schools, Town is a very good place to live and as far from Memphis as I could get and stay in the county. Is a great deal safer than Memphis.

Most of the shopping, etc. is North of the railroad tracks. So if you buy a house, that is a consideration. Memphis being a transportation hub has long, slow trains running east/west.

I live just West of Collierville. Been in Memphis for 17 years and Germantown the last 4. It's a nice town and Bailey Station is a great school. We have a couple friends that send their kids there.

I live in Collierville in the Bailey Station school district. My wife works at a Catholic school, so my boys go there but I would send them to Bailey Station if she had a different job. We have a lot of friends who send their kids to Bailey Station, it's one of the top elementary schools in Shelby County.

Where in the area is your job going to be?

It’s in Memphis but the house is only 8 minutes from my job, straight down east winchester off of tournament. Thanks for all the responses. Just wanted to make sure Bailey is safe and nice.

That's not a bad commute at all down Winchester to Southwind, it really even doesn't get too bad during rush hour.

This is relative. It’s definitely safe and nice for the Memphis area but it’s still the Memphis area.

Don’t know if you’re a golfer but you might want to look at joining Windyke CC once you get settled in. It’s right there along your commute and a good way to meet other young people with kids. They have 3 golf courses, a pool for the kids and tennis and pickleball. It’s by far the most affordable anywhere around here too.
