Has this coaching staff and fanbase built Nussmeier into something he’s currently not?

I think some of y’all need a reminder that this is Nussmeier’s first year being a true starter. He’s never started in an environment like last night. You asked him to throw the ball 50 times. Poor coaching if you ask me. On top of that this WR core has no OBJ/Jarvis, Chase/Jefferson or Nabers/Thomas and this running game is fricking arse. I’m not absolving Nussmeier of all the blame but man the odds are stacking against him.

He had 250+ passing yards and 2 tds and halftime. But everyone wants to conveniently forget that…..yeah the second half wasn’t great. Shite happens.

Lacy, anderson our Tight Ends- are more than sufficient for getting the job done- yes we have had injuries - but they are not the reason we lost -
Has Nuss been overpumped? Yes but again it is up to his coaches to balance the ball between self confidence and reality of skill set
Nuss has forced the ball all season to places he should not have and missed seeing the field with better options than the one he throws into- Again -coaches job to coach those poor skill sets away from him

No. The Coaching staff have continually put him in bad situations by not having any running game whatsoever. What this reminds me of is Les Miles not being able to run the ball against Nick Saban and continuing to think it’s going to work, then relying on the QB to win the game. Can’t do it.

Just like everything else the media and our fans over hype things. Perkins, O line, etc… Nuss has a great arm but he is an average QB and this is his 1st year starting. Not having a competent running game is the real killer. I am not saying he can’t improve next year but our fan base and media anointed him like he was gonna be an automatic elite 1st year starter. It takes time and for Sloan and Kelly to put it all on his shoulders by having to throw 50 times a game is ridiculous.

yes, it is just the coaching staff and fanbase that have said he is one of the top qbs in football and has something special going and projected 1st round draft pick.
To put it in perspective, Burrow and Daniels were both projected 6th to 7th round draft picks going into their heisman years. He had a bad game, and didn't help himself by running the football. But frick, our OL was pathetic, even against the pass rush in the second half, and they are horrendous, bottom 10% in college football at run blocking. Throw in horrendous special teams, a defense that wasn't prepared for the running QB, and a very hostile environment, and there you have it. Even he follows that up next week against Bama with the same performance, then you are on to something.
