I'm in the market for new irons. I had Hogan Apex irons back in the day. I'm not nearly as good as I once was, but love the look of the PTx Pro line and I have a nostalgic loyalty to the Hogan brand.

Anyone hit these? They have a demo program, but it's kind of a pain in the arse.

I also played Hogan Apex irons years ago and decided to get a full set of 4-PW PTX Pro irons in black finish right before they went out of business a couple years ago. The online custom fitting process was easy and fit my needs at the time. The clubs are solid and built with more standard lofts that I was used to. I also got a 3 hybrid which I like. It was good to see them back in business.

I've had a set for about 3 years and this is what I posted on here when someone asked about them a couple of years ago.

quote:

As far as forgiveness, the main thing I have noticed is they really help with shots that are a little fat. They have a v sole similar to the Srixons and it really does make a difference on those heavy shots.

You probably already noticed this but in case you didn't, their lofts are really weak. The 4 iron starts out at 22* and there is a 4* gap between each club so your PW is 46*, which is a lot weaker than most other player-distance irons. This doesn't really bother me but be prepared to hit a longer club than those who are playing with stronger lofts.

Another plus is they offer a lot of shaft options with no upcharge. And their customer service is great.

Not sure it this is still available but when I got mine they gave me a 10% discount for giving them my email address. All in all would recommend.

Only thing that has changed since then is I don't think they offer as many shaft options as they used to. Anyway hope this helps...

ETA...just checked their website and I don't see that they offer 10% discount any more but they are still worth it IMO.

I want to get a set of these, I will pull the trigger on them sooner or later. I like the old school lofts and the consistency of the lofts through the clubs.
