I heard this might be a good place to bring the significant other for a day/night. Lots of shops, old homes, restaurants, etc. Any recommendations?

Riverport BBQ is really damn good.

Lots of antique shops. A couple of record stores. Some old fashioned ice cream soda fountain places. You can walk most of it in an afternoon. I'd recommend going on a Saturday, some of the shops are closed on Sundays.

We stayed in the Kahn Hotel. It is a nice location, walking distance to everything downtown I think. However Jefferson has a train track that runs thru town. The track is real busy at night with a lot of crossings. Our room was on a side of the hotel that caught the train lights as it rounded a curve. Nice town and a nice hotel and you can watch trains.

I wouldn’t haha…this is coming from someone who knows the mayor…or former mayor.

I’ve been going to Jefferson for over a decade mainly just to drink beer and frick with ghosts.

Go during the Civil War reenactment if you must, but I outside of that…visit the general store, have a beer at Auntie Skinner’s, and get the frick out haha.
