Raleigh area around Thanksgiving

Long story, but looking to plan a quick getaway the weekend prior to Thanksgiving and staying over a couple of days into the next week. My oldest has been running track since middle school, and is doing cross country for the first time this fall. Turns out she can do more than hurdles and sprints well, and has been invited to go to a Regional meet with the high school team. The meet is that Saturday morning, and as of now the plan is for her to ride up Thursday night with a teammate's family, and we will go up on Friday, and stay a few days.
Are there any cabins in the area, or is it all going to be hotels or home rentals? We went to Gatlinburg back in the spring and liked the cabin, but wasn't sure if outside of Raleigh was similar, or if it was more urban all the way out. Just not familiar with the area at all. The furthest I've been into North Carolina was Asheville and Boone, and that was over 20 years ago. We'll be bringing her two younger brothers as well, so that is one reason I'm leaning towards a cabin or VRBO type rental instead of a hotel.
Also looking for things to do those next few days. I'm sure my wife and daughter will want to shop around some, but thinking more about things to do as a family that everyone will enjoy or tolerate.

Umstead State Park is between Raleigh and Durham. They should have cabins.

You could probably find something just out of town on AirBnB, etc.
