Skenes just hasn’t been the same since the all star break, even though he’s been well above average.
Control hasn’t been there based on what I’ve seen, and people are swinging aggressively early in the count, so trying to mix it up without the control has been a problem.

ROY is probably over and I’m pretty sure the Pirates will shut him down. Velo and command just aren’t what they were and that’s troubling.

it's pretty bad. While I hate ESPN, I love how that you can watch basically every LSU baseball game just with a TV contract.

With the exception of his last start, he's still pitching very well. No one expected him to keep pitching 7 innings of no-hit ball.

Apple TV talking up ROY and CY Young for Skenes. I doubt it happens, even if he continued his pre all-star ways.

He got really hot for a few games last week when Skenes had his worst outing. Skenes has been consistent otherwise. Unless Skenes drops off a lot, Merrill would have to stay hot for a while to take it over and put some distance b/t them. The only other thing that might hurt Skenes is if the Pirates start stretching out his starts b/c of the innings he's pitched this year.
