But why back off if they had a preferred outcome in mind that wasn't LSU winning???

If thata truly why they fricked up the call, why stop there,?? Why not double down to ensure they preferred outcome???

Had Neil stayed behind the plate to catch ball. Because the batter backed out the box, it was strike 3, inning over. That's one away it could have gone down. The rubber steak works become dead cause he wasn't even close to the plate yet when batter stepped out.

Another way was a pitch out
Another way could have been Herring stepping off rubber to throw to Neil.

If any of these 3 would have been executed correctly, it was inning over still tied.
