I removed mine at 30. I did my due diligence through research and references for the operating physician. I also requested that the physician not have any residents or fellows assisting. It was a breeze. The first three days were terrible but soon after that it mellowed. I did have substantial swelling in the uvula which simulated choking but it subsided after a week and a half.
I too suffered from repeated strep throat and tonsillitis. My tonsils were huge! As large as they perturbed out they also imbedded into the mucosa of my throat. Looked like golf balls. It was the best decision I could have made for my health. Since the tonsillectomy I have been sick twice and have recovered more rapidly then ever.
You should do it!
