re: When did you hit mid life crisis

Not in the sense of buying expensive toys, but in terms of work I had a mid life crisis in my mid 40s when I needed to decide if I was going to open my own firm or accept an offer to manage the local office of an out of state firm. Opening my own firm was going to be stressful and time consuming, with no guarantee of success. The other job would not likely be as lucrative but would be easy and secure with minimal corporate BS to deal with (but still some). I value family over vocational success. I don't need to be the sole, or even primary, breadwinner in my family, so I chose the less stressful job.
