What are we obeying from IL, other than supporting them to kill assholes, again? They didn't ask us to send a Mulberry harbor to supply their enemies, we did that.

Israel ultimately decides our Middle East policy. It’s partly because of the very large number of Jewish Zionists in government, and their influence on policy. But it’s also because of the large sums of money that Israel disburses through AIPAC. Most of Congress is effectively on their payroll via campaign donations.
As a result we end up enacting polices that benefit Israel, but do not benefit the US. The war in Iraq is a good example.
