Seems like you first need to develop some time management skills. Even with kids, wife and a typical job, there is an hour or two daily that you can disengage from the family and take care of yourself.
First thing is I do with any free time is some sort of exercise. Over the years that's been running, cycling, mountainbiking, lifting, whatever you can do consistently to clear your head.
You need to let your wife/family know you need this time for yourself.
I've been able to do things like, teach as an adjunct, volunteer at all kinds of things, paddle, fish, hunt, build a garage, renovate all different parts of my primary residence, run a real estate / renovation company, consulting, rebuild cars, build out Jeeps, build fences, etc., etc. This is all in addition to doing things w the kids such as coaching and being a youth/scout leader.
Time management is the key to your happiness.
