I was about to say the same thing. I went from going to a class in HS to swinging a hammer and pulling wrenches for no less than 12-14 hrs a day for weeks at a time. Literally 2 days after I graduated. I can’t tell you how many times I went in at 6 am and didn’t leave that bitch till 8-9pm, then realizing we’d missed lunch and all that. Stop and look around and was like damn, it’s already nighttime. What a bunch of pussies man.
It’s apples to oranges. I’ve done both.
Offshore can be physically taxing if you’re not the safety guy or some shite. But you at least get to recover on your days off.
Finance bros really never get a day off. It’s mentally exhausting even before the abusive culture.
Anecdote, I always slept good after a long day on a rig. Deal work would stress me out so much I’d go days without really sleeping. But I never worried about getting killed by a crane operator running deals either. They’re just different and hard in their own way.
