Nothing to stop anyone from doing it. And the misinformation would spread even farther if it was all bs before any fact checking.

While humans will no doubt use AI to create fake news, AI can also help us figure out what is real. Many that fall for fake news do so because they’re so lazy that they react to headlines and sound bites. That isn’t even the Cliff’s Notes of the news.
Imagine your news being rewritten by an AI news agent program that researches articles before presenting them to you. Doing things like actually reading the original source instead of the dozens of misleading opinion pieces about it. Watching video interviews to understand tone that isn’t conveyed in a text quote alone.
