I’m not certain he is focused on taking action for himself as much as helping others. Maybe he actually is cutting back on his drinking bc I have heard some stories at a few of the local watering holes and it’s hard to believe anyone would still be alive if they kept doing what he was doing. I think he is just a weed and alcohol guy and is using his resources to help people with opioid addictions and stuff. I think he probably understands he is an alcoholic and it is what it is at this point.

All I know is, I have been warned that if Jelly Roll shows up and you got shite to do the next morning, then it’s probably best to go home.

Well, alcohol does affect people differently. I know kids in their 20s who got alcoholic hep, and I know old timers who still drink a fifth a day and have had no major liver complications.

I mean we’re obviously way off track from OP but all the addictions (opioids, meth, cocaine, alcohol, benzos), they’re all related. The only difference is their drug of choice. But it’s all mind altering substances that will ruin you one way or another. I don’t think you can help others with addiction if you yourself are using. There’s a reason rehabs test every single faculty member once a week for any substance and have a zero tolerance policy.

Also, we’re mostly a bunch of guys from Louisiana so we don’t see it this way, but I’d argue alcohol is the worst one, simply because it’s so socially acceptable. I.E., I would never want to be an alcoholic in recovery living in NOLA.
