I've always found the Duluth/Superior area to be odd in how leftist they are.
Lots of union idiots I guess.
The two biggest “industries” in town are hospitals and colleges. Not a profit motive to be found in 95% of the employees.
Then there’s the aggrieved and oppressed service industries in tourism, where wait staff average $40 an hour while telling you they need a ”living wage”. (We have a unionized Starbucks, for Pete’s sake.)
The few manufacturing and trades jobs you do find are, indeed, heavily unionized.
And don’t even get me started on the “We need more affordable housing but don’t cut down any trees or build anything for rich people” NIMBYism that absolutely smothers development.
