My Dad started losing his hearing due to rounds of chemo. His hearing loss progressed slowly over the years. I believe there is a direct correlation with dementia and loss of communication. Both got worse over time as he waned. It was horrible. He knew we were there, but could not express himself. Enjoy and cherish your time together
