When that backfired, and Iran filled the power vacuum, the Bush administration moved to topple the government in Syria. In the hope that this would hobble Iran. We again did it, explicitly, to make Israel safe.

And this is no secret, we talked about it at the time. And it happened, because of Israel’s controlling influence in our foreign policy.
