So the only "actual discussion" that can be had is a scenario that fits your exact situation?
Maybe if I responded to you, you'd have a point. But you responded to me.
Do you disagree with my general point - that 20 something year olds today expect more luxuries (which cost money) than their parents had at the same age?
Edit: Just for fun I looked into your scenario. National home size has increased from 1600 Sq ft (in the 80s) to 2400 in 2018.
That's a 50% increase.
