I was the yard boy for as long as I lived under my Dad's roof. He was a stickler about his yard and shrub beds and had me and my brother out there working a whole lot more than we would have preferred.

I think we all were in the 80s and 90s. We paid a neighborhood boy to cut the lawn for $10 every week but I was responsible for the gardens. I haven’t seen a teenager cutting their own lawn in over 20 years now that I think about it. Everyone has landscaping companies handle the whole yard these days. My son does cut the lawn for my mom when she asks but she’s about 30 minutes away so he doesn’t handle it every week. I don’t love him driving on these highways with all the traffic very frequently.
