I have family members in Louisiana who were all part of a family-owned beer distribution business. Almost all of them vehemently oppose marijuana legalization. You know what the ironic part is? Our family beer business was started to capitalize on the ending of Prohibition.

Drinking alcohol has always been engrained in NOLA and Acadiana culture due to heavy Southern European influence on that region of that state. A lot of Italian families live in South LA. I don’t like to stereotype, but I can say for certain that a lot of Italian families in LA have a strong affinity for partying and drinking. This leads to a bias against marijuana.
