Jay does not win this national championship without the facilities that DD got built. They are the best facilities in the nation and DD raised money, begged, pleaded, and raised more money to get them built. She was head coach for 3 years after we got them and came in second twice (being robbed by the judges in 2019 or she would have a championship). You don’t know what you are talking about.

What is the point you are trying to make here? None of that makes anything I said about DD untrue (outside of the 6,000 year exaggeration)...

was the coach for 6,000 years and didn't win a championship. She did a good job and everyone knows she was a good coach and was good for LSU gym, but she coached forever and never won a natty. Jay wins one in less than 5 years.

I'm a big fan of her, and like I said, she was good for LSU gym. She is one of the greatest coaches in women's college gymnastics history. But she could never get the team to the pinnacle. Not unlike 99.9% of all college gym coaches. It's not easy to do, but Jay did it.

Well for one there was the part about being robbed of a title by the judges. A lot of people (not just LSU fans) felt that way. So that would be a national championship. There is the part of comparing apples to oranges. Jay would not have won this national title without the facilities that DD got built. And those three teams that got 2nd place in the nation were recruited with DD showing them drawings of what the facility would hopefully look like.
And I think it’s disingenuous to compare the two without pointing out the huge advantages Jay had because of DD. She built the fan base, she got the facilities built, and she never benefited from Oklahoma choking in a meet that LSU wasn’t even a part of. I fully believe that DD would have won a national championship if she had stayed 5 more years but she did what she thought was best for LSU. I also hope Jay stays until he wants to retire.
