All you have to do is look at how people are calling for the government to seize Russian bank accounts in the USA to realize how this can be used against you.

Holding everything in a bank account and being unable to withdraw actual cash from said account because we've moved to a "cashless society" gives the government complete control over your finances and your ability to purchase anything.

ETA: I'm honestly shocked I had to spell this out.
