You don’t have to say the words in your head to read. They teach you not to do this if you have taken a speed reading class. Saying the words slow you down. I have an inner monologue but I can just look at a word and know what it says. Example: if you see a stop sign you don’t say out loud “stop sign”. You just know it is a stop sign by looking at it.
