Don't get a kia soul or any vehicle with a NU 2.0L GDI engine , they have major seal issues that lead to major oil consumption as early 80K, your cataltic converter getting clogged as a result, and eventually oil in your cyclinders and needing a new engine.
They have done a recall basically, but the knock sensor has to have been triggered.

The order affects nearly 300,000 cars, including the 2012-2013 Sorento, 2012-2015 Forte and Forte Koup, 2011-2013 Optima Hybrid, 2014-2015 Soul, and 2012 Sportage. Some of these vehicles are at risk of fuel and oil leaks within the engine. NHTSA says the leaks may ignite a fire.
Dealers will inspect each car for leaks and make any needed repairs. This could include a complete engine swap. The automaker also promises an update to the Knock Sensor Detection System to warn owners if a leak develops.
The Kia recall comes in the wake of last week’s Hyundai engine campaign. Certain Santa Fe, Sonata Hybrid, and Veloster models are subject to a recall over connecting rod bearing failures. Hyundai hopes to solve this issue with a Knock Sensor Detection System update, and possible engine replacement.
Last week, the automaker agreed to the largest civil penalty in history — $210 million – after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said it has failed to recall 1.6 million vehicles with potential engine problems in a timely manner.

Thats the first article I saw, but it effects more years than that. Anything with that engine.
