We had our third pregnancy. First two went great. Went in for the ultrasound and the tech did the whole “let me get the doctor”…hearts dropped.
The doctor comes back in and immediately sends us to a high risk specialist. We get another ultrasound and all of the markers are there that our son had Down’s syndrome. NOTE: we were heartbroken but we were going to love him just the same. We are Christians and prayed that God would guide us and prepare us for what was ahead. Went back several times and the markers were there (fluid on his neck, swollen feet, and some others we didn’t understand. The doctor told us “there are options with this pregnancy”. We got what he was saying and said we were absolutely going to carry the pregnancy to full term and love the little fella with all that we had.
Fast forward about two months. We did our next ultrasound. The high risk physician came in after the ultrasound and these were his exact words, “I knew you were a couple of faith and what I am about to tell you cannot be explained by medical science. All of the markers are gone, your child is perfectly healthy. I simply cannot explain this other than God.”
We had a completely healthy 3rd boy and this kid is beyond perfect. Everybody that comes into contact with him is amazed that he is mature beyond his years and everybody in school from students of all grades to faculty all love the kid and he excels in sports.
As a side, my wife’s father passed away when he was three and before he passed said that he was going to be very special…he is living up to it daily.
Truly God and God alone.
