Do we start seeing a large number of restaurant closures in the near future?
I do, but it has more to do with the absolutely ridiculous number of restaurants now.
I just looked at one of the busier areas near me. There are literally 55 eating joints in a three mile stretch, and more are coming in by the day it seems. That only includes options right on the road, none that may be slightly off the beaten path. Of course Google Maps shows the star rating on the map, and I'd say the average rating for them all was between 3-3.5 stars. An area oversaturated with shitty options can't help but see quite a few of them go belly up within the next few years.
