Two words. The Dolomites. Stunning and food is a blend of Germanic and Italian. Then you could spend a couple of days in Venice as a gondola ride is just about the most romantic thing you can do in that part of the country. Then tran to Lake Como or Lake Garda. Northern Italy at it's finest. Personally I'd also get over to the Piedmonte region but I am a sucker for the food (white truffles) and wine (Barolo and Barbaresco) there.

Ok this peaks my interest. Any pointers on where to start with the Dolomites? Specific towns, where to fly to, highlights, etc?

I plan to do some research later
