1. Its very political
2. LINK
Ive had these conversations with her over the years. I once was her VIP guest at an Atlanta Dream game. The players are the problem in the WNBA.
They are always bitching about salaries. When the league was formed in 1999, the top players made $35k and they were happy to make it.
They demand high end hotels and restaurants like the NBA.
They are ultra political and very loud about it (and 100% liberal and mostly straight up communist)
Here's some facts so you don't have to look them up.
There are currently 12 teams. 10 of them are in NBA cities. The Connecticut Sun plays in a casino and tries to be a pro version of UConn.
6 off the 10 teams in NBA cities are owned by the NBA teams themselves. It is the only reason that the league is still viable.
There are 7 teams that have folded operations, all were owned by NBA teams and dropped because they couldn't make money. Among them were the Houston Comets, who have won the most championships of any team. They are no more.
In addition, 6 of the current 12 teams are not in their original cities. That's a lot of chaos.
The entire WBNA produces $60 million in revenue. 412k viewers on TV for the finals. Its just not viable. The whole controversy is that this gives the WBNA a chance to increase viewers and revenue, but the players and media are bitching because Caitlin Clark is a white heterosexual.
Clay Travis was right - she should have returned to Iowa, made $20 million in NIL, increase her records and retire from basketball.
