I agree that they are not inherently related. One is massively more important than the other. And wasting resources overseas whenever there are big problems to address at home is bad policy.

You’re going to have to define “it” in the context of international law that our Congress has approved making it the law of our land. Specifically laws regarding those people crossing international borders seeking asylum.
