When the war ended in Europe my dad had 86 points toward a discharge. You needed 88.When Japan surrendered he was at an Army Air Force base in South Dakota being checked out on B-29's and then assigned to the Pacific.
He was OK with the decision to bomb.
My Dad was on Okinawa gearing up for the Invasion of Japan. He was ecstatic when the bomb was dropped. My Uncle was in Czechoslovakia awaiting orders. I'm sure he was excited as well.

A good fiend from hs dad was part of the flight crew that got Bock's Car ready for the Nagaski mission. He said after they saw the photos from the first bomb and realized this could sure end the war every system on that B-29 was doubled tripled and quadrupled checked. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconusaflagsmiley.gif)
