I've met a handful of people who have chosen to send their kids to ULL, Tech, private, or an out of state school because of Baton Rouge's high crime rate.
Those people are idiots and their kids most likely are as well.

My daughter chose Tech but it had 0 to do with crime rate. To say that she couldn’t get into LSU is simply ridiculous. She likes it there so we’re happy

Let me get this straight. You are saying I am an idiot, as is my son?
I graduated from LSU close to 30 years ago, and then went on to get a doctorate. I have lived in Louisiana my whole life and make well, well into 6 figures. My son got a 31 on the ACT and got a very good scholarship to an out of state, large SEC school. The decision to not go to LSU was motivated by a long term desire (both his and ours) for him to NOT live in Louisiana. He has seen enough to know that other places present a better opportunity, and a better long term quality of life. Also, there is no doubt BR crime affects LSU students, and the ineptitude of the people running BR show that they don't really care. Ask Allie Rice's parents....
I guess if an 18 year old making life decisions based on those kind of metrics makes him (and his parents) an idiot in your mind, then I will take that charge....
