This might be dumber than your first post. Congrats.
But let me add this to the scenario...tell me if I am close.
So here we are in the middle of the season, and things aren't going like we hoped, so a college athletic director is supposed to call a guy working for an MLB team...and this guy is supposed to quit work NOW and come to BR to work for a COLLEGE team in some sort of position that the OP pulled out of his arse that doesn't even exist.
But the good news is that you went full PI-detective and discovered that this random guy who works for the Cardinals is good friends with Jonathan Papelbon, who has nothing to do with LSU but who happened to be born in BR, therefore VOILA! Match made in heaven.
Am I close?

And a Mississippi State alum. Using that logic, why wouldn’t Pap just talk his buddy into this non existent role at his alma mater instead?
