I have neither and seem to be ok.

Across the street they trenched the entire perimeter and added French drains to a sump with a pump. I don’t see why you should need to do the middle.

if your yard is graded correctly, why would you need french drains. Assuming no basement , flat topography. also gutters getting the water away from the house.
